Subject: Changes to Comerica’s Medical Plan Provider for 2022!

Effective Jan. 1, 2022, Comerica will be partnering with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) as our new medical provider. In an effort to continuously provide competitive benefits, Comerica surveys the market and evaluates our current plans and how they compare to others. Note: Kaiser Permanente coverage will remain as a medical plan option for California colleagues.

Although Comerica has had a long-standing relationship with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM), we are confident that BCBSTX will provide enhanced programs and administrative experience. BCBSM and BCBSTX are committed to working together as we move into 2022 to ensure your health coverage and claims information are transitioned smoothly. While we are changing medical plan providers, there will be no change to your healthcare providers because BCBSM and BCBSTX share the same great network of doctors, facilities, and healthcare providers.

Click here for a brief video introducing you to BCBSTX, the new administrator of your medical plan, beginning Jan. 1, 2022.

Things to Note:

Provider Network: Your provider network will remain the same. You can continue to see the same doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers. You will also have access to your past medical claims through BCBSTX.

The BCBSTX network includes a range of independently contracted hospitals, doctors, and other health care providers. This is the same network used with BCBSM, so you will continue to have access to an established network throughout the country.

Transition of Care/Care Management: If you are receiving healthcare treatment of any kind during the transition from BCBSM to BCBSTX, you should continue your care with your current doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers because the network will not change.  If you are working with a case manager at BCBSM, that case manager will coordinate with a BCBSTX case manager for a smooth transition in mid-December. More information will be provided toward the end of the year.

Virtual Visits: Virtual visits through MDLive®, will provide the same telehealth benefits you have today but with a different provider, website, and contact number. MDLive® board-certified doctors are available 24/7 and can help with more than 80 common medical conditions, anytime, anywhere. You can use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to meet with a doctor or therapist face to face.

Wellness Resources & Discounts: You will continue to have free access to programs like Blue 365®, through Well onTarget, a fitness program that offers flexible options to help you lead a healthy lifestyle. This program includes benefits like a nationwide fitness network, a reward program for healthy activities, online savings on fitness gear and more, plus healthy eating options and tracking tools.

Pharmacy:
Your pharmacy benefits will remain with Express Scripts Inc. (ESI), please keep your current pharmacy benefits card for current and future use.

FSA/HSA Benefits: HealthEquity will remain the Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) provider. Please keep your current debit cards for current and future use.
